Civil War Battlefields

Page County, VA is also home to two important Civil War battlefields: New Market and Cross Keys. The Battle of New Market was fought on May 15, 1864, just a few miles from the town of New Market. Confederate General John C. Breckinridge led his troops into battle against Union forces under the command of General Franz Sigel. After a fierce battle, the Confederates emerged victorious, dealing a significant blow to Union hopes for victory in the Shenandoah Valley. The Battle of Cross Keys was fought just six days later, on May 21. Once again, Breckinridge’s Confederates squared off against Sigel’s Union troops. This time, however, the Union forces were able to hold their position, resulting in a strategic victory that helped turn the tide of the war. Today, both battlefields are preserved as historical sites, and offer Page County visitors a rare chance to experience the lasting mark of events that shaped our nation’s history.

FAQs About Handyman Services in Page County, VA:

How does the weather in Page County affect handyman work?

While our craftsmen are happy to work no matter the temperature, some jobs can only be done when the temperature is right. Oil-based paint needs temperatures between 40°- 90° F, for example.

Also, some exterior work can’t be completed during heavy rain. Page County sees around 1 inch of rain on average in May and June, so particularly during those months, exterior work is more subject to rescheduling.
