There’s so much to enjoy in Silver Spring…

Silver Spring is the southernmost city in Montgomery County Maryland. This area is located on the Maryland-DC border, and it is a stone’s throw from the nation’s capital.

Downtown Silver Spring is full of high rises and corporate offices, which gives it an urban feel. The downtown area is also home to many local restaurants and retail shops. That said, downtown Silver Spring also hosts the Silver Spring Shopping Mall, which is one of the largest malls in Montgomery County. Visitors and residents alike can also be found ice skating in the downtown ice skating rink in the winter time, as well as shopping at the Fresh Farm Farmer’s Market in the summer time. There is so much to do in Silver Spring!

Even though the area is quite urban, Silver Spring does offer some access to the outdoors. There are several nature trails within close proximity to Silver Spring, most notably of which is Rock Creek Park. This DC park is the largest nature trail in the Washington DC area and is perfect for an afternoon escape into the wilderness.

Silver Spring has a few sights to see as well. This area is home to the National Museum of Health and Medicine. Silver Spring also has the historical Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station, which was built in 1945 by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. The station is no longer in service, but the building and tracks are still there if you want a blast from the past!
